The health system has announced plans to replace multiple health IT systems with an Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, signaling a transformative shift towards improved health data interoperability.
With a whopping $40 million investment, Tidelands Health aims to revolutionize care coordination across its network, which encompasses four hospitals and over 60 outpatient locations. As an affiliate of MUSC Health, Tidelands Health’s adoption of the Epic EHR system brings added advantages. The transition to the Epic EHR system is scheduled to commence on March 2, 2024. Coastal Medical, an entity of Lifespan Corp. based in Rhode Island, recently transitioned to Lifespan’s EHR and patient portal using Epic software. This transition enables patients to access health data from Lifespan primary care locations, hospitals, specialists, laboratories, and imaging facilities through a single portal, streamlining access to healthcare services.
Furthermore, Montana-based Benefis Health System is also investing in Epic EHR implementation to enhance patient experience and operational efficiency. Forrest Ehlinger, Benefis Health Vice President of System Business Operations, highlighted the system’s ability to consolidate disparate platforms into a unified solution, thereby facilitating seamless care coordination and improving patient access to health information.
