Meta Platforms’ flagship social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram, faced significant downtime on Tuesday, leaving tens of thousands of users stranded in frustration, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com.
As per reports from Downdetector.com, there were over 300,000 complaints of Facebook outages, while Instagram witnessed more than 20,000 reports. The website, known for aggregating outage reports from various sources, including users, highlighted the extensive nature of the disruption.

Currently, Meta’s social media platforms are inaccessible, with both Instagram and Facebook displaying error pages citing a “failure to load” message.
At its peak, Downdetector.com recorded over 461,000 outages at 10:37 a.m. However, as the situation evolved, this number gradually decreased. Similarly, Instagram experienced over 25,000 reported outages by 10:51 a.m., with a peak number of over 70,000 affected individuals.
The outage seems to extend beyond just the platforms themselves, affecting associated apps as well.
