Hyundai’s $5,000 Donation and a Santa Fe SUV to Support the Transportation of 10 Shelter Dogs to Their Forever Homes.
Hyundai has stepped forward to sponsor the 2023 Operation Frodo 1650, a nationwide canine rescue initiative. This holiday season, the initiative is dedicated to transporting 10 shelter dogs from Omaha, Nebraska, to Portland, Oregon, with the help of Hyundai’s generous $5,000 donation and the provision of a Santa Fe SUV for travel logistics.
Angela Zepeda, Chief Marketing Officer at Hyundai Motor America, expressed gratitude for being part of this noble cause, stating, “This is a cause that is close to many of our team members’ hearts. We are proud to partner with our automotive journalist community friends to help provide necessary funds and transportation in our Santa Fe to safely deliver shelter animals to their forever homes.”
Launched in 2022, Operation Frodo 1650 aims to relocate shelter dogs from the heartland of America to their forever homes on the West Coast. The initiative takes its name from the first dog saved by Animal Rescue Rigs, and the number “1650” represents the approximate distance in miles between this year’s starting point, Omaha, Nebraska, and the final destination, Portland, Oregon.
Beyond the noble cause of rescuing and rehoming dogs, Operation Frodo 1650 seeks to raise funds for Animal Rescue Rigs, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to building specialized animal transport vehicles for shelters nationwide. The upcoming journey is scheduled from December 16th to 20th, making stops in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Boise, Idaho, before reaching its destination in Portland, Oregon.
Hyundai’s support goes beyond a monetary donation, as they are providing a 2023 Santa Fe SUV for a team of automotive journalists to carry out the rescue mission. The sponsorship funds will cover essential costs such as food, lodging, fuel, and more during the journey. The volunteer driving teams primarily consist of automotive journalists who will document the rescue operation, shedding light on the incredible journey of these shelter dogs finding their forever homes.
