Emma Stone’s Quest for Jeopardy! Stint Amidst Glittering Golden Globe Win

Golden Globe-winning actress Emma Stone has recently unveiled a surprising yet persistent ambition: she yearns to test her wits on the iconic quiz show, Jeopardy!, and she’s not settling for the celebrity version. Despite being a renowned Hollywood star, Stone is determined to earn her place on the classic show rather than opt for the celebrity edition.

Hosted exclusively by Jeopardy! legend Ken Jennings following Mayim Bialik’s departure, the show continues its tradition of three contestants battling it out with their knowledge across various subjects. The unique twist of responding to clues in question form adds an extra layer of challenge for participants.

In a recent interview on Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast, Stone confessed her annual attempts to secure a spot on Jeopardy!, stating, “I apply every June. I don’t want to go on Celebrity Jeopardy!. I want to earn my stripes. You can only take the test once a year with your email address, and I’ve never gotten on the show. I watch it every single night and I mark down how many answers I get right. I swear, I could go on Jeopardy!”

Stone’s dedication is evident through her participation in the Jeopardy! Anytime Test, available on the show’s official website. The test, comprising 50 clues to be answered in 15 minutes, serves as a screening process to identify potential contestants before the camera rolls.

Despite her repeated attempts, the 35-year-old actress is yet to secure a spot on the show. Nonetheless, Stone’s star continues to rise in her primary profession. Her recent triumph at the Golden Globe Awards in the Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy category for her role in “Poor Things” further solidifies her status in Hollywood.

“Poor Things,” directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and adapted from Alasdair Gray’s award-winning 1992 novel, showcases Stone’s versatility as an actress. The sci-fi comedy narrates the peculiar tale of Bella Baxter, a Victorian London woman brought back to life after drowning. The twist lies in her unborn child’s fetus being placed in her skull, leading to her experiencing life anew in an adult body.

Stone’s exceptional portrayal of a character with a blank slate impressed both critics and audiences. In an interview with Dazed magazine, she shared her experience, stating, “Usually, you think about how they became the person they are, and why they speak the way they do. But with Bella, it was an invention. It was freeing. There was no right or wrong.”

The cast of “Poor Things” boasts a stellar lineup, including Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef, Christopher Abbott, and Jerrod Carmichael. Stone’s critically-acclaimed performance has also earned her a nomination for the upcoming Screen Actors Guild Awards, heightening anticipation for her potential inclusion in the Academy Award nominations.

While Emma Stone awaits her chance to grace the Jeopardy! stage, her unwavering commitment to the iconic quiz show contrasts with her thriving career in the entertainment industry. As the Hollywood spotlight continues to shine on her, fans eagerly await her next move, whether it be answering questions on Jeopardy! or captivating audiences with her on-screen brilliance.
